It was fun celebrating Holly and JD’s first birthday with our close friends and family! I think Holly and JD enjoyed themselves too, well maybe not the cake part. Before the party we picked up some balloons which turned out to be a big hit for the babes. They got to play with them for a whole two weeks after the big day. Constantly pointing to them and trying to get the balloon down by pulling on the string only for it to go back up again. It was a fun little game. We have such generous family and friends who gave such wonderful gifts! We are definitely ready to hit the beach with our new pails and beach toys.
Holly and JD continue to amaze me with how fast they are learning and picking up on the things around them. JD loves to walk, holding on to someone, and fascinates himself when he is standing alone. I have yet to get a picture but he always has a big grin of accomplishment when he stands alone. Holly on the other hand would prefer to bounce while standing or crawl. Which I guess is a good thing! They constantly point at everything which makes it easy to talk about the world around them. They are just so curious and sometimes a little too curious especially in the kitchen and bathroom! Eating is not so much a challenge anymore and if they don’t like what we are eating we know we can always turn to strawberries! They love them. Even if JD gets little bumps on his face because of them. I learned that they really enjoy blueberries too, probably a better choice than goldfish all the time. But after too many berries they started getting red splotchy spots on their faces so we’ll have to lay off the berries for a while. Sleeping at night is getting better but still could use some improvement. Typically they alternate sleeping through the night, here’s hoping that changes!! After getting up once in the middle of the night, we actually slept in until 9:00 one Saturday morning. Woohoo!!

At their 12 month check up JD weighed 25 lbs and 31 in tall while Holly weighed 22 lbs and was 30 in tall. Both in the 90th percentile for everything.
