I love patriotic holidays. I love the songs, the colors, the unity it brings and the family time we spend together.
We started off the Memorial Day weekend by going to church. How is that any different from any other weekend? Well, we sang “Battle Hymn of the Republic.” And we don’t just sing it casually in our ward. If you ever want to sing the song with umph and power come to our ward during a patriotic holiday! You won’t regret it. I promise.
Sunday night we started a new family tradition, I think. We inherited a fire pit thingy from work and decided to put it to good use. Next time we will have marshmallows and roast s’mores or something tasty. Holly and JD put on a little program, a Hopkins favorite tradition, and heard all about Matt’s new catch. Smelling like campfire is not my favorite thing but it was fun!

Holly and JD were pretty good during the game and eventually got restless so Gramma and I took them to the little play area. They both rode on quarter rides and had a blast too!
