Christmas 2007

family-061607.jpgMerry Christmas everyone! I’ve made it a point to say that as much as possible this month. Yesterday in a store I said, “Merry Christmas” and a nice lady said, “Merry Christmas” back to me. It’s as if I was transported back in time! I hadn’t realized how much we as a society had changed. I feel a groundswell of Christians taking back the holiday and the majority of non-christians are fine with it. Good people everywhere are not offended by cheery greetings so it’s my personal mission to say Merry Christmas to everyone I meet.

If you’re logging on to Hopkinz.com for the first time, welcome! In lieu of a Christmas letter we decided to invite our friends to check our blog. Jimmy is our computer guru and set up this blog for us. It’s a really fun way to keep in touch and to journal our family. It’s the new version of the front porch where friends and neighbors can meet and share the happenings of their days. If you have a blog please let us know so we can keep in touch.

Here’s the brief lowdown on the gang – you’ll get more details if you have the time or inclination to check out previous blog entries.

Dave and I feel so lucky to have Jim and Liz living nearby. They’re both very busy with church callings as Young Men and Young Women presidents and their thriving careers.

Doug (24) is finishing up at BYUI and will decide what to do next very soon. His dream job is athletic trainer for the A’s.

Matt (21) returned from his mission to the Philippines and has been working and eagerly anticipating his return to school. He’ll be at BYUI in January.

Steven (18) will also be at BYUI, that’s three Hopkins boys at the same school. He turns 19 next September so he’ll have a year of school under his belt before he heads into the mission field.

Johnny (13) will be the lone ranger. Since he was born we knew this day would come but it will be very strange having only one child at home. Johnny has lots of friends to play (sorry hang out) with so hopefully he won’t get too sick of Dave and me.

Likewise, this prescription ought to be entirely brought with plain water just and not with any sort of modern beauty and health packages canadian sildenafil available in the market. Dave still slaves away at AAI. He’s managing the Pleasanton office and is director of Architecture so he stays very busy but still loves his chosen profession. He’s teaching the 17-18 year olds in Sunday School and loves it.

I’m keeping busy leading a few Weight Watcher meetings and training a few clients. It’s been fun easing into the workforce. I won’t be going full time until after Johnny has graduated, meanwhile I’m taking classes and learning all I can about health and fitness. In church I’m stake camp director and a ward missionary (I try hard not to feel old and out to pasture).

We’ve enjoyed hearing from many of you and hope the New Year brings wonderful adventures to you.

Love,

The Hopkins

I feel as though since my part was the shortest that I should take the iniative to summarize my 2007. The year started out abismal with a winter in Rexburg but then picked up in the summer when I was with girlfriend. Later I realized that she wasn’t the one for me. I moved on, Continuing with my education and “played the field” at the same time. A task which should be left to those of us with the extremely acute ability to multitask. Then in the fall I found another girl to which I have attached myself to for now. What the future of Doug holds? no one knows…but I will continue to blog and make sure that as soon as it does you will all know. Over and out and Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to everyone!!

Lanette, you are a much better woman than I. With the way life goes and the demands of school and family I have absolutely no energy to update you and others with a family news letter.

I am so thankful to know how things are going and maybe (and that is a big maybe) next year will be the first news letter for us. I wouldn’t hold your breath for that one though.

Life is good and as you can see it it 4:19am MST and I am wide awake! Last minute Christmas must be bought and I have decided I don’t like standing in lines just to purchase the last minute stocking stuffers, so Walmart is on my list before the day gets away from me. Plus when the insomnia kicks in I might as well be somewhat productive while the kids are snuggled in bed with visions of sugarplums dancing in their heads. As for Doug, I am glad to see that you have taken advice from your Uncles and blogged your bloggatory well before the mid-night hour. I do have to say though, that some of your best and most thoughtful writtings have been well past the mid-night hour. Those writing have been well worth the visit to http://www.hopkinz.com.

As for the Tooele Hopkins we wish all of you a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS and may you find yourselfs enveloped in the true meaning of Christmas.

We Love You!
