We just got back from a little trip to Virginia to see my sister get married. We had a wonderful time with family, though it seemed like we were only together for a quick moment. More updates on the wedding festivities later.

The last time we flew was back in December when the kiddies were little nine month old balls of chubbiness. That wasn’t the best experience for us, so this time we bought an extra seat. Turned out to be a great decision. Getting through security was rough. The kids were tired and then we found out our plane was delayed about an hour. Holly and JD wanted to walk so we put their harnesses on. Not a great move. Because we have to strip down, I had to take them back off. JD freaked. And taking off his crocs just did him in. I felt helpless for the poor guy. So what happens, you ask? I started crying too. The poor guy just wanted his crocs and little doggy on his back. Finally we got them back on and he calmed. By the time it was time to board, they were both asleep. Finally we are in our seat, the very back of the plane, and as we are going down the runway JD is started to get quite scared. Bumpiness plus a little turbulence right off the bat is not a good combination. JD has a death grib on Jim and is not letting go for anything. Then he realizes I am not by the window and would rather sit on my lap. We switch kids and JD falls asleep in minutes. Funny thing is he did this for almost all four legs of the trip, there and back. He hated take off and landing. When things got a little scary for him JD would say “whoa” to which Jim or I would respond, “I got you.” And then we would hear a scared little voice say “I got you” back.
As we were on the last leg of trip there, I was holding a sleeping Holly and JD had his death grip on Jim, I heard JD say “whoa.” To which Jim responded with his loving, “I got you.” As I saw Jim wrap his arms around JD’s little body, I couldn’t help but think about how there are times in our lives when we hit a little turbulence or things get a little bumpy and scary and our reaction is a scared ‘whoa’ and how we have a loving Heavenly Father who is there to say ‘I got you’ through it all. I’m thankful for that!

Thanks for inspiring me tonight.
Aren’t kids amazing?
I’m so grateful for their trust, innocence and pure faith. I learn so much from these sweet little spirits.
Miss you all the time friend!

Hang on to your mom and dad JD!
