Oh my…goodness why were they sleeping when we went to the zoo? I took my trusty helper, Johnny, to help me with the babies and our first visit to the zoo. I wasn’t sure how they would do but knew at least they would enjoy getting out of the house! Or wait, that was my excuse. Turns out they really had a great time. It took us a bit to get there because as we came off the exit we saw the sign for the zoo and for some reason kept driving straight. After going up and down hills in a residential area I wondered why the zoo would be up there. Turns out we totally missed the turn and drove an extra 15 minutes for nothing. I think Holly and JD were asleep so they took a little longer nap. The first animals we saw were the flamingos and we parked the stroller right in front of them and Holly and JD stood in the stroller pointing and seemed be in awe of them. JD did not appreciate it when we started moving away from them. He obviously didn’t understand that we had many more animals to see.
Next we went to the children’s petting zoo. We parked the stroller and walked them into where the goats and sheep were. They were a little hesitant at first but really liked pointing and looking at them. They did pet them a little but really just enjoyed looking.
We took the windy path towards other animals and stopped by these guys. I forget what they were but I think one little guy lady was pregnant. . And as we were leaving we had to wait for some teenagers to use the elevator before us, really, you are going to walk all over the zoo but can’t take the stairs? We got hungry so we stopped to eat lunch in this little open space with lots of animals, I mean children, running around. Good time to people watch! We made our way to find the giraffes, sleeping tigers, stinky-pooping elephants, chimps, extremely loud macaws, warthogs and finally made our way to the train to see the outback. The babies were so tired that they were asleep before we got of the zoo parking lot! It was a fun day and we will definitely go back or maybe go to the San Francisco zoo instead!
