What did you just say?

For most of my pregnancy I have been asked almost anything you can imagine, and mostly from strangers. Going out and about really generates a lot of stares, especially recently, because I’m huge. I’ve been to Sam’s Club twice in the last little while and both times the same lady asked if she needed to take me to the hospital like right away. Then one time while checking out a cashier asked me when my baby was due. It’s always fun for Jim and I to say, “well, they’re due” in a whatever amount of time. She then proceeded to ask me how much weight I’ve gained, so I politely answered and she then told me she gained 85 lbs per kid. And what exactly do you say to that?!

Because I walk very slow these days I think it gives people a longer opportunity to get a glance at the beach ball I’m carrying around! As I was walking thru Target today I walked passed this older couple, who were not using their polite inside voices. As I turned the corner I heard the woman say to her husband, “Holy Cow!” Thinking maybe she was talking about some item she saw I turned around and both she and her husband were staring straight at my belly. I smiled, turned around and had a good chuckle to myself. Holy Cow is probably what most people are thinking but to hear it out loud is quite amusing.

Yay! Just a few more days. I love when people say after you have the baby, you really were big, and I only had one in my belly. Good luck. I’ll be thinking about you on Monday!

It is something to be proud of. You are so amazing, I think I was a big whiner at this point. I think it is always fun to think what I would have said if I had the nerve. Something like “I have a huge tumor it is fatal.” Just to shock people.

wow, people are so full of class out there in California. From all your pictures you look great. other than your belly you don’t even look pregnant. can’t wait to see pictures of the twins. Good luck!

That is so funny! I think you look fabulous. I never got those kind of reactions–but pregnant people are abundant in Utah, so no big deal, I guess :)

Oh Liz, this brings me back! One time I had someone say “Please tell me there’s more than one baby in there!” Lucky for her, there was.
I agree, it’s something to be proud of. The human body is NOT made to carry more than one baby, and doing it is a miracle.

Gear up, people only stare more once there are two tiny babies to see. Although since you will have a boy and a girl, maybe it won’t be as bad as me and my identicals. It’s like a circus sideshow wherever we go.
